As Chelsea is preparing to welcome back star striker Dider Drogba, new manager Avram Grant is saying that he wants to go all out offensive with his International superstar back.
He was quoted as saying he wanted to play “at least 5 in the attack” and that the 4-0 cruising over Hull in the Carling Cup was “just the beginning”.
Adrian Mutu scored in the 88th minute to assist Fiorentina score a 1-1 draw with Italian Giant Juventus. Mutu’s goal came on a penalty kick late after a controversial play in the box.

I was searching youtube and I saw this and I thought it was hilarious. The person actually took the time to look up 30 clips of Ronaldo diving (which, by the way, every soccer player does. Do I need to direct you to my Match Day II post?). It has made me wonder, Rivaldo or Ronaldo? Who is worse? Maybe I’ll have to blog on that some time. As promised, here’s the video.
Match Day II is over, and what a day it was. A lot went according to plan, but, as normal, a lot didn’t as well. Marseille came to Anfield and showed Liverpool that they were going to have to work for a win, and work they did. AC Milan and Celtic also played, along with Real Madrid v Lazio, and Chelsea v Valencia. On to the gamecaps!
Marseille headed into Anfield not having won since September 1999. Liverpool, at best, were bad. Their only attempt on goal came in the 92nd minute as Fernando Torres got a lucky ball played into him at the 6, only to blast it off the post. Marseille’s goal was pure magic, as the ball was played and Mathieu Valbuena finished it wonderfully.
Rafa Benitez’s side was obviously not up to par in their recent 1-nil loss to Marseille. Without key player and veteran Jeremie Pennant (who was sent off in Liverpool’s first matchday fixture forcing him to sit this match), Liverpool looked generally lost on the pitch. (more…)
